- At Connecticut (Friday)- After a close loss as a favorite vs Virginia in the 2013 opener, BYU should be better prepared for another opener out east (again as a favorite). However, BYU's star running back Williams and receivers Blackmon and Kurtz will not play in this game.

- At Texas- Despite losing to BYU 41-20 in 2013, most expect Texas should beat BYU this year. While Texas could be much better, they've had a tumultuous off-season, so I think BYU can pull off another win.

- Vs Houston (Thursday)- The Cougars of Houston played a close game with BYU in 2013, losing by one. Houston will again be an offensive threat, but BYU looks better prepared to defend the pass.
