El primer fin de semana de abril y octubre son buenas oportunidades para todo el mundo a escuchar mensajes y música inspiradores. La Conferencia General de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días ocurre este sábado y domingo, y es oportunidad maravillosa para que todos reciban consejo del profeta y los apóstoles de Dios. Además, anuncios importantes usualmente se comparten durante esta conferencia. Por ejemplo, el cambio de la edad de misioneros fue anunciado durante la Conferencia General de octubre y nuevos templos se anuncian con frecuencia. Cualquier persona es invitada a asistir a cualquier de las cuatro sesiones generales en la Ciudad de Lago Salado gratuitamente, o seguir por el Internet aquí.

The first weekend of April and October are great opportunities for everyone to hear inspiring messages and music. The Semi-Annual General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is this Saturday and Sunday, and is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to receive counsel from God's Prophet and Apostles. Also, important announcements are usually shared during this conference. For instance, the missionary age change was announced during the October General Conference back in 2012, and new temples announcements occur often. Anyone is invited to attend any of the four general sessions in Salt Lake City for free or follow online here.

Florida, Wichita State se encabezan a torneo de NCAA

En el mundo del baloncesto de universidades, ningún equipo había ganado todos los partidos durante la temporada regular extendida, hasta este año mismo.  El equipo de Wichita State, una universidad en Nebraska, ganó 34 partidos sin perder ninguno, y aunque su competición no fue muy fuerte, el equipo "Quitó la mesa," es decir que el equipo casi siempre ganó por márgenes grandes.

Hay 64 equipos en el torneo de NCAA y se separan en cuatro regiones. Los equipos son posicionados por un comité, donde cada región se organiza en números 1 hasta 16. La primera "seed" (Semilla) o posición es para los equipos más talentosos. Wichita State (34-0), Florida (32-2), Arizona (30-4) y Virginia (28-6) consiguieron estas cuatro posiciones prestigiosas, según su región.

El torneo ya comenzó y seguirá hasta el partido campeonato nacional el 7 de Abril.

Before Wichita State's magical 34-0 season this year, no team had gone undefeated with 34 victories. Although the schedule wasn't very difficult, Wichita State showed that they deserved a number one seed by "running the table" with little trouble. One game went to overtime, and just a handfull of other games were within single digits, but most of the games were blowouts.

Florida (32-2), however, received the most poll votes and the number one overall seeding in the tournament. The team went undefeated at home and lost two close games against tough opponents on the road. They had a number of close games, including a one point victory over both Florida State in November and Kentucky in the Championship Game of the Southeastern Conference.

Arizona (30-4) and Virginia (28-6) hold the other top spots in the tournament.

As usual, the Tournament selection had some surprises. Kansas received a two seed despite nine losses, and VCU (28-8) has a five seed and plays a potential bracket-buster in SF Austin (27-2).  SMU (23-9) is a team that just missed the tournament. Southern Mississippi (25-6) is another team that got snubbed, who had the exact same RPI as BYU (22-11), a team that was selected as a 10 seed, to the surprise of some. 

If you count the play-in-games, the 68 team tournament starts Tuesday, March 18; The "Round of 64" starts Thursday, March 20.

La temporada de MLB comienza afuera de Estados Unidos

La temporada de béisbol este año no solamente comenzará temprano, sino tomará lugar en el otro lado del mundo: ¡Los Dodgers de Los Ángeles y los Arizona Diamondbacks van a Australia!

Sus dos partidos serán pequeñas previstas de la División Oeste de la Liga Nacional, donde los Dodgers fácilmente son los favoritos. A pesar de un comienzo inestable en 2013, el equipo podía deslizarse hasta los Playoffs con menos problemas en los finales de la temporada. Este año, casi todos los jugadores regresan del escuadrón talentoso de 2013. Además, el equipo se puso ocupado esta baja temporada y se le agregó lanzadores como Paul Malholm y Dan Haren.

Los Diamondbacks han realizado varios cambios, los cuales serán beneficiosos para hacerlos serios contendientes para los Playoffs. Aunque perdieron a Kennedy- Mark Trumbo y Bronson Arroyo deben ayudar a enfortalecer el equipo.

La serie abridora toma lugar en Sydney, Australia el 22 de marzo. El abridor para la mayoría de los equipos es el 31 de marzo.

MLB Season Starts Outside of United States

This year's baseball season will not only start early, but it will also take place half-way around the world: The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks are going to Australia!

The games will be small previews of the NL West, where the Dodgers are easily the favorites. Despite a rocky start in 2013, the team was able to coast into the Playoffs with less issues late in the season. This year, nearly all of the players return from the talented 2013 squad. The team, however, had a busy off-season and added pitchers Paul Malholm and Dan Haren.

The Diamondbacks have made several changes, which could benefit them enough to make them serious playoff contenders. While they lost Kennedy- Mark Trumbo and Bronson Arroyo should make the team more powerful.

The opening series takes place in Sydney, Australia on March 22. The opener for most teams is March 31.
