BYU Baseball Withstands Heavy Downpour

The BYU Baseball team might or might not remember the beginning of the 2015 season. It was not a pretty sight. The team dug a deep hole, losing ten of its first twelve games, though against talented teams. But as soon as the team played its first home series against Hartford (three weeks into the season), the team revived itself in a remarkable way. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the tremendous success that BYU Baseball ended up having, despite their very tumultuous start.

My BYU Baseball Preview predicted the team to have a 29-22 (16-12 West Coast Conference) record and reach the 2015 postseason, but the odds of that happening dropped considerably before the team even played any double digit games. BYU currently stands at 28-23 (16-11) and did end up clinching a spot in the WCC Tournament. Much of the media expected BYU to finish near the very bottom of the WCC, but my honest insights saw a much better team. That's proven to be the case, and more especially so based on the fact that the team has overcome so much adversity.

BYU played most of their last games in rainy weather, and the last home game was canceled due to rain. But the team responded well, sinking Saint Mary's and Utah, and clinching the postseason at Santa Clara.

Whatever happens this postseason, Cougar Baseball can celebrate. They've earned it after they have put up with some heavy downpours.
