Rosters announced for Home Run Derby, All-Star Game in Minnesota

The Home Run Derby for Major League Baseball is Monday, July 14, and the All-Star Game is the following day. Both are in Minnesota. The format for the Home Run Derby is changing this year, where the top American League and National League players will now end up facing each other in the finals, which was not always the case. Five Players from each league will participate, instead of the usual four, and each player is given less outs than 10.

Home Run Derby AL Players

Jose Bautista (Blue Jays), Josh Donaldson (Athletics), Brian Dozier (Twins), Adam Jones (Orioles) and 2013 Derby winner Yoenis Cespedes (Athletics). 

Home Run Derby NL Players

Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Morneau (both Rockies), Giancarlo Stanton (Marlins), Yasiel Puig (Dodgers), and Tod Frazier (Reds).

La Copa Mundial: Quedan ocho equipos

El equipo de fútbol de Brasil ha pasado por momentos intensos este Mundial, más particularmente en contra de Chila. Apenas pudo ganar después de las patadas de penalizaciones. México no sólo perdió su liderato en los últimos minutes contra Holanda, sino el partido completo, 2-1. Los Estados Unidos falló su encuentro contra Bélgica 2-1, a pesar de la actuación magnífica del portero Tim Howard. Una mayoría se orgulla de los logros de los E.E.U.U. esta Copa Mundial, pero Landon Donovan expresó un poco criticismo después de la derrota.

The World Cup: Eight Teams Remain

Brazil's soccer team has had some close calls this World Cup, most notably in their most recent game against Chile. They were just able to win after penalty kicks. Mexico not only lost their lead in the last minutes against Netherlands, but the entire game 2-1. The USA dropped their match 2-1 against Belgium, despite the magnificent play from goalie Tim Howard. Most are proud of the accomplishments of the US this World Cup, but Landon Donovan expressed some criticism after the loss.

The other matches of the first elimination round included Costa Rica's win over Greece in penalty kicks, even though they played with ten on the field, France's 2-0 win over Nigeria, Argentina's 1-0 win over Switzerland, Colombia's 2-0 win against Uruguay, and Germany's victory over Algeria 2-1.
